Evaluation Envision living in a prison, isolated from normal life. Not for a day or a week, but instead for multiple decades. Sealed away from the green emerald like leaves and the interaction of those loved ones that melt one’s heart. Such was the case of the character in the film The Shawshank Redemption named Andy Dufresne, who was imprisoned for murder; however, Dufresne maintains his innocence. Andy Dufresne played by Tim Robbins and his close friend Red played by Morgan Freeman display life inside Shawshank prison with utmost heartwarming emotion. Among many renowned qualities, The Shawshank Redemption proved itself amongst masterpieces due to its surprising plot, deep symbolism, and heart touching story.

Within the jail cell of Andy Dufresne, large posters of famous women cover the wall denoting hope as Andy would shovel through the walls underneath the sizable portrait during the night. Uniquely, the warden of the jail, played by Bob Gunton advises Andy that “salvation lies within the Bible.” Noticeably, the Bible indeed provided Andy with salvation as he concealed the rock hammer which he was using to dig through the walls within it. The corruption of the warden demonstrates itself when he cloaks a safe containing the book which retained account of the smuggled money underneath a framed verse of the bible which reads “his judgment cometh and that soon.” Accordingly, judgment had been served as Andy switched the Bible with the book of the proof of accounts of the Warden’s money scandals and later used it to expose the corruption within the prison.
