Is it really possible to lose all self-control and not be able to control your actions? Andrea Yates was a mother of five children who she then decided to drown all five of her children. A mother who kills all five of her children, is not something you hear of often. It shocked me actually when I heard the whole story and everything that went down. As a listener of the story who is young and still growing into the mature age, it’s hard for me to understand “why” and “how”? I have grown up with severe depression, anxiety, bi-polar, etc. all around me and never have I ever experienced such a harsh incident like this. How her life was as a kid growing up, and how she was treated and the things she went through. Your childhood and how you are raised as a kid reflects a lot as how you grow up into an individual. A study I found that support my opinion on childhood reflecting on your adult hood was published by Child Development, “Found that the type of emotional support that a child receives during the first three and a half years has an effect on education, social life and romantic relationships even 20 or 30 years later.” As research shows in a Biography about her life, she married Rusty Yates who was the son of preacher Michael Peter Woroniecki. Through sermons, videos and personal telephone calls, the Woroieckis condemned the Yates’ for their hypocritical Christian lifestyle, saying their children were doomed to hell because of their parent’s sins. The Woroniecki family who was Rusty Yates is family made them feel very sinful because of the choices they made. If a person cares a lot about other people’s opinions, it can really mess a person up trying to please them all the time. I think this could be something that really interfered with Andrea Yates, how she may have not felt good enough as a mother or how she let her husband’s parents down as Rusty Yates father was a
