Rime of the Ancient Mariner – Rewritten as a modern version

The Bassoons were playing in the background as the three wedding guests were making their way to the wedding, when suddenly one of the three was stopped unexpectedly by an mysterious ancient Mariner. The wedding guest questioned to why he had stopped him.

The bridegroom’s door was open wide the guests had met and the feast is set, but the Mariner held me tight with his wrinkly hand and started to tell the wedding guest about a ship. The young wedding guests angrily demanded the Mariner to let him go as he was so freaked out by his glittering eye! They were not happy with the Mariner for all averred, he had killed the Albatross, that made the breeze to blow. But when the fog lifted soon afterward, the sailor decided that the Albatross had not brought the breeze but actually had brought the fog and the mist; and it was at this point when they congratulated the Mariner for his good deeds. The fair breeze blew, the white foam flew, and we were the first that ever bust into that silent sea told the Mariner. It was that that silent sea where all the sailors were left stranded; the winds died down. It is unique because of its use of archaic language in the poem. An example of this would be “Eftsoons his hands drops he”, the poem is also unique in its own way for its length and for the way the story is portrayed to be very strange and mysterious. “The Rime” tells a very unique and invisible story, it describes things that have never been seen by the naked eye. The use of language that Coleridge has used in “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” portrays the poem to be a ballad of ancient times.
