Summarizing an article or story can help the reader understand what he or she is reading. Summarizing also helps the reader get a better understanding of the article. Analyzing an article can help the reader see what the author was trying to say in more detail. Analyzing helps the reader with main points in the article. Andrea Roman wrote the article We’re Not. In the article We’re Not Roman talks about her mother and how her family is different from the Americans. SHe also stares how they culture is different from the American culture. Roman talks about how her mom doesn't like and didn't like it that she borrowed a sweater from her friend at school. In Romans mom's eyes she sees it as they don't have there own money to buy Roman clothes. She thinks the people think they are poor and that she can't take care of her family. She would always tell Roman that “In Bolivia, We do not borrow clothes.” When Roman told her mom what really happened she mom got mad because she talked back and got a good deep mouth wash with dish soap when she got home. Her mom also didn't like the idea of Andrea sleeping over. “We’re Not American, why do you want to sleep over?” Every Time she would ask if she could sleep over her mom would ask “Para qué?” Roman would always say because her friends were all going and it will be a lot of fun. She would always say “No.” Her mom would give her an alternative which was “You could go over for a little bit but not to spend the night.” On sundays they spend there time with family. Her mom doesn't want her to be doing her homework on sundays because it's a day to be spent with family. She found that out when she forgot to do an essay on weekend and told her mom she had to do it for tomorrow and she told her that she she shouldn't wait for sunday to do it
