Have you ever thought what if you couldn’t pick your job or what you wear? Well this is what the book of Anthem was all about written by Ayn Rand. The humans that lived in this city could not choose anything. They were told where they had to work based upon how they did in school. These humans were not allowed to do anything besides the job that they were assigned. This is a distinctive way of life from our way of life. There are some similar things about their society and our society. In the book anthem the kids did go to school but were never pushed to strive or do better than their fellow classmates. Where as in our society we go to school just like kids in Anthem but we are pushed to get better and we have things to look forward to if we do better. The kids in anthem had nothing to look after and try to get better because once they were done with school they went to the council of the city and there the council decided where they got to work. …show more content…

For example, “equality 7-2521 was chose to become a street sweeper even though they wanted to be a scientist.” This is the opposite of our society today. People have a free choice in what they want to do and if they don’t want a job they don’t have to get one. There is some similarity with the jobs that are within the city. The have a street sweeper, a town council, and a school teacher and some other jobs. These are some of the jobs we have in our society. They were not allowed to speak to anyone outside of their job
