Television does much more then entertains its viewers. Reality shows has given the American people a bad reputation. The reality shows that Americans watch every day are also shown all over the world. For example, shows like Jersey Shore, The Real House Wives, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Hunny Boo Boo, and Duck Dynasty is representing Americans. The rest of the world sees Americans as childish, aggressive, spoiled, rich, dumb, disgusting, or/and as red necks.
First, is the show Jersey Shore, a show about a group of people who live in New Jersey and who only care about tanning, working out, and partying. In the show the people have made it an obsession with being tan until their skin is orange and then still keep on tanning. This is not true do to the fact that Americans see to much UV lights are harmful to them. This has made many foreign viewers have the idea that Americans have an obsession of being tan. This show has also given the viewers the perception that Americans do not know how to behave in public. An example, of the behavior problems is when they all went out to dinner and they all sat there arguing and insulting each other. However the producers have the actors do these type of things is because it helps the ratings for the show. Another inaccurate trait linked to Americans is that they are constantly working out and trying to look their best; even though many Americans try to look their best they don’t always make it an obsession to the point of always being at the gym or at a tanning booth. The final trait this show gave to Americans is the fact that they will constantly drink, party, and seek out sex with anyone. It has given the world the idea that Americans are a drunk, out of control, and sex craved society...

The people who live in the south-east are assumed to be crazy, lazy, destructive, and kill for fun. Finally, media has made such a large impact that Americans have been stereotyping themselves and others. These reality shows have been representing Americans and making the world judge Americans on the representatives on television.

Untasteful, feral, depraved viewing; Euphemism for palpable voyeurism; Is spelling the end of decent, moral society - Slagging out reality TV from a high culture standpoint is as easy as taking candy from a blind, paralysed, limbless baby. Reality TV is a significant part of popular culture in the current settings of mainstream Australian society. Counting the number of reality television shows on two hands is now a physical impossibility. But what impact is this concept having on society now and into the future?
How Reality TV affects the audience and the characters who were participating into it? Does it really give knowledge to people who were watching and supporting? Or is it just the sake of money and exposing their appearance on television? When it comes to watching television, people at home can choose which types of program they want to want for many reasons. Some people look to television for inspiration; others want to be kept informed about their surroundings and the world. To me reality shows such as jersey shore, the housewives series have influenced as to how i see people who have the money are stuck up and have no idea what is really important to the world. That alot of Americans were embarassed to have those people represent the United States. I am embarrased that we as Americans, wach reality shows of other people who are no diffrent from we are and give them so much attenion for simply being broadcasted for misleading me how easy life is for them than for those who try to make a difference or that just beacause how popular they are with the younger genreation. We as people should give the image of trying to make our world better place for he not so forunate bu ae living pretty well, but for those who are not fortunae at all.
The third and probably most well known quality of the American culture is the influence that the population derives from the media. The USA has the most extensive and diverse set of outlets that supply the people with a sheer number of different kinds of entertainment. This creation of melodramatic amusement has created a sort of illusion within some of those who spend more time in front of the television than others. Although to be fair, even though this trend might have started in the USA, any country with decent and above satellite and Internet coverage has that separated pool of individuals that are extremely influenced by entertainment and played-out fiction stories that has them detached from reality and alienated from the rest of the community.

All of these give off a negative portrayal of reality. The concept of Reality TV is to show the struggles of real people or actors without scripts, surprising, and terrifying many of its viewers.
