This essay will be about three stories.The first story is called “The Lottery” written by Shirley Jackson. The next selection is a story called “All summer in a day” written by Ray Bradbury. Finally i will be writing about “ A jury of her peers” written by Susan Glassbell. These stories will be shortened and Retold For the Purpose of Education. Theme is the Focus of this text.
The first story that will be told is about a women named tessie. She lives by having a lottery. The control the population by having a lottery. The lottery is where There are pieces of paper put in a box with one that has a black dot. Head of Families draw too. The person that was Picked and stoned to death. Tessie’s Family was chosen and was forced to draw. Sadly For her she was Chosen. She was stoned to death. The lottery is a cruel way to “Keep the population down”.
The next story is called “All Summer in a day” by Ray Bradbury. This story takes Place on a different planet. This planet is like Earth but unlike Earth The Sun only Shines every 9 years. She wrote the story called a “jury of her peers.” It is about a woman who is accused of killing her husband. People who were close to her were sent in to look around her house for evidence. These people were of the jury. There were two women and three men going through their belongings. The men find nothing to that would incriminate her but the woman found something really interesting. The women found that there was a bird cage but no bird. So they continued looking they then find a blanket made of old clothes that was not finished. Then they find a little box with the bird, they learned that the bird’s neck was broken and that’s how it died. At that point the women decide to hide all of the evidence from the men. The men find nothing to incriminate her. That was the three story
