The Impact of the Age of Exploration The Age of Exploration was a period in history that has been characterized as a time where Europeans began exploring the world in hopes of discovering land, knowledge, wealth, and trade routes. Introducing continental trade between items and slaves occurred during this period. This altered population and wealth in both the Old and New Worlds. The Age of Exploration brought about positives with the events of the Columbian Exchange and Trans-Atlantic Slave trade. However, pushing past that, many negatives arise, such as the spread of fatal diseases and mass genocide affected both the European explorers and Native Americans.
