Many can be blamed for the deaths of the young couple in the play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet are still young and very impulsive, they should not be blamed for their tragic end. They were driven by their love for each other. However, the influence of other characters combined with fate contributed to their untimely end. Furthermore, the lovers were suffering consequences from their destructive family feuding which kept them apart. Unfortunately for them, they were also receiving poor advices from both Friar Laurence and the Nurse despite their good intentions. Shakespeare wants the audience to see that the adults are to blame because of their foolish and childish actions. Romeo and Juliet’s disastrous ending was a combination of misleading advices, poor decisions, and tormenting situations from which there was no escape.

From the prologue, it was said that Romeo and Juliet “A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life”, they were fated together. After their marriage, Romeo was caught in trouble after he slew Tybalt and says “O, I am fortune's fool!” He was fortunate to be married to Juliet and he was fortunate to be alive, but he was a fool for killing Tybalt. Therefore this statement was possibly foreshadowing the end of the story. Romeo was fortunate to have loved Juliet, but he was a fool in the end because he killed himself, unaware that Juliet was only sleeping. During Friar Laurence’s plan, Friar John, had failed to deliver the important letter to Romeo due to a deadly plague outbreak and they “Sealed up the doors, and would not let us forth”. For that reason, the Friar’s plan was made unsuccessful and the misunderstanding of creating a fake ‘death’ for Juliet, eventually caused the real death of the young couple.
