In review of the models I believe the 7-S Framework would best describe the change management model used for Comcast and Kmart. The 7-S framework is based on 7 categories:

• Strategy - How the company competes

• Structure- the design of the organization

• Systems - How their systems such as rewards and recognition align.

• Style - How management responds to their environment when there is a call to act

• Staff - How the company develops and trains their people

• Skills – The things that makes the company different from their competition

• Superordinate goals - The vision of the company

Comcast is indeed a major competitor in its market, the need to be even greater led Comcast to purchase NBC. Comcast had an opportunity to re-classify themselves to compete in a different arena. In addition, their merger created a precedent for how the FCC would handle vertical acquisitions moving forward. “The FCC's extensive analysis of vertical foreclosure in evaluating the Comcast-NBCU transaction provides a template for courts and litigants considering similar issues in future transactions. (Baker, 2011). In review of the changes at Comcast and applying the 7-s Framework to their acquisition of NBC the following observations have been made:

• Strategy- Comcast sought out to not only be a cable provider but a content provider as well. NBC owned 26 network and local stations, which Comcast would now own. Comcast would gain Olympics rights because NBC held the rights to the Olympics in 2012 and 2013.
