“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” ― Marilyn Monroe In order to be yourself, you have to tell yourself that the people who tell you to change want you to struggle. You should love yourself and tell people who want to change you that you don’t want to be like one of them, you want to be yourself. Wouldn’t it be boring if everyone looked exactly alike? I think so. There would be no way to tell anyone apart. Everyone is exactly the same. Be yourself, everyone else is already taken. Marilyn Monroe’s quote relates to the story because you should live life and be yourself. Not what other people want you to be. “It’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring”
...ourse, stability isn’t nearly so spectacular as instability. And being contented has none of the glamour of a good fight against misfortune, none of the picturesqueness of a struggle with temptation, or a fatal overthrow by passion or doubt. Happiness is never grand.”
"There are three things which are real: God, human folly, and laughter. Since the first two pass our comprehension, we must do what we can with the third."
The search for one’s identity can be a constant process and battle, especially for teenagers and young adults. Many people have a natural tendency to want to fit in and be accepted by others, whether it be with family, friends or even strangers. They may try to change who they are, how they act, or how they dress in order to fit in. As one gets older, society can influence one’s view on what they should look like, how they should act, or how they should think. If society tells us that a certain body type or hair color is beautiful, that is what some people strive for and want to become in order to be more liked. This was especially true with Avery as she longed for the proper clothes to fit into a social group and began to change the way she spoke to match those around her. As a young and impressionable sixth grader, she allowed herself to become somewhat whitewashed in an attempt to fit in with the other girls. However, Avery did not really become friends with any of those girls; her only real friend was
“There is a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line” (“Oscar Levant Quotes”).
“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” (Marilyn Monroe).
Many people spend their time creating his/her image in order to get where they want to be, celebrities, politicians, public figures, etc., but never do they spend time trying to be themselves; Instead they suppress it.
“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” This quote made by Marilyn Monroe describes her impeccably. Marilyn lived a very fast-paced life that was anything, but dull. Still, today she is known as one of the biggest sex symbols of all time, but she had not always been in the spotlight. Marilyn had many struggles in her upbringing, but it made her into the icon she is.
Men have called me mad, but the question is not yet settled, whether madness is or is not the loftiest intelligence--whether much that is glorious--whether all that is profound--does not spring from disease of thought--from moods of mind exalted at the expense of the general intellect. Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night - Edgar Allen Poe
Edgar Allan Poe “I became insane, with long intervals of sanity.” -Edgar Allan Poe (BrainyQuote)
You hold the key to your own future! “Stay true yourself no matter who or what may try to stop you from doing so being you is the greatest gift you can give yourself” By John Williams.
In life you will be faced with the challenge of fitting in many times, but you should not let the people around you define who you are. At school there are lots of trends and I see it here at collegiate where people wear certain clothes or shoes because it’s a fad. In third and fourth grade the largest fad by far was “Silly Bandz” and everyone had them and everyone wanted to have them. It may seem to be an unsophisticated example, but it is very relevant to the topic. Everyone should be individual and not just what other people are pressuring them to be, but truly themselves. Be a leader not a
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment" Ralph Waldo Emerson. We live in a world where society tells you to be yourself and then judges you. We love in a constant fear of being judged or called a weirdo. Though the barons that hold us to this conformity are strong, many manage to break through. No other person in this universe is exactly like you. Everyone has a different quality to bring to the table and that is what makes out world such a diverse place. Embracing your assets to society and not trying to imitate someone else will not only change your outlook on certain situations but on your life as a whole.
Closing: ”Men have called me mad; but the question is not yet settled, whether madness is or is not the loftiest intelligence- Whether much that is glorious, whether much all that is profound does not spring from disease of thought from moods of mind exalted at the expanse of the general intellect “ (Edgar Allan Poe)

"Life itself seems lunatic. Who knows where madness lies! To be too practical is madness, to seek treasure where there is only trash, to surrender dreams may be madness. Too much sanity may be madness, but maddest of all is to see life as it is and not as it should be." -Miguel Cervantes
