A Wall of Fire Rising, written by Edwidge Danticat, is a story about a small, poor family of three that live in Haiti. The family is composed of Guy, the father, Lili, the mother, and Little Guy, their son. Throughout the entirety of the story, the story provides the reader with in-depth details about each one of the main characters. Lili and Little Guy can fully be understood early in the story and are static characters, but the same cannot be said for Guy. although the reader is giving information about Guy early on, he he quickly changes in this story. In A Wall of Fire Rising, Lili and Little Guy are static characters, while Guy is a dynamic character, and through his action the reader can see there is more in life that he wants for his family.
Although Guy is the first character to be introduced in the story, Lili will be the first character to be discussed. Throughout the story, Lili does not change. She is a loving mother and a dedicated wife, doing her best to …show more content…

Just like Lili, even though Little Guy has a lot of character to him, he remains static. Little Guy is the seven year old son of Guy and Lili. He is a very intelligent boy. This is made evident to the reader earlier in the story during the conversation among the family when Guy says, “I see some very hard words here, son,” and Lili replies with, “ he already knows his speech.” Not only does this show his ability to quickly memorize lines but his determination to do best. Later he is rewarded with this with more lines in play which he then quickly memorizes as well which he proudly recites for his father. Little Guy seeks to make his parents proud, and does so with his lead role in his play. Later is the story, Guy takes his own life and almost in an attempt to make his father proud one last time, Little Guy recites his lines one last time for his father, showing Little Guys love and admiration for Guy that he has maintained throughout the
