There once lived a boy, Ricardo Martinez. Ricky, the name most people knew him by, was a skinny twelve year old Hispanic boy. He stood at the height of five foot five with long, tangled hair. Ricky lived with a family of five with two loving parents and two mischievous younger brothers. He and his family lived in the poorest area of Mexico. They wore rags for clothes, ate rations of bread for food, drank dirty water from a nearby river, and occasionally drank milk if the parents had enough money to afford it. One day, Ricardo’s birthday had arrived, and Ricardo was expecting to receive a toy he had asked for from his parents for a long time. He saw it one day he was running errands for his father in a small shop not too far from where he lived. It was a red Power Ranger that shot a red laser from its wrist when a button on its back was pressed. We find out that Marcela and her little brother were raised in poverty by a Mexican woman named Macaria, who was a prostitute looking for a way out of the world’s oldest profession. The children lived on the streets while their mother solicited Johns for a living. This was how Marcela, as a young girl, met Tony; she was sitting on the stoops of the barrio with her little brother who was malnourished and eventually died.
Rodriguez’s situation was that “his parents are immigrants to the United States and several of his siblings were born in the United States in the State of Texas.” His dad was well educated back in their country, Mexico, but they’re being declined because of the existence of bigotry. “His parents were having a tough time finding a job because of their situation – they have found several jobs but are paid below minimum sometimes.” Rodriguez’s parents have multiple jobs just to survive on their daily basis. Rodriguez’s family situation has affected them all – Luis was affected the most and went astray as he was so desperate into fitting into the society and is able to help his parents. No matter how hard life will be, there are ways to avoid gangs and criminal behavior – government programs and other resource center helps a family to survive and even lend a hand to parents and educate them of how to suppress their child to go astray and be involved with crimes and gang
When I was little I remember driving across country, going to Florida, and past neighborhoods that were anything but mine. They had old houses that looked like they were going to fall down any minute, real trashy looking. In Colorado, my house was nice and always kept up. I sat in the car wondering what kind of people lived in those run down places and what they were like. The answers came to me years later when I read the book, Famous All Over Town, by Danny Santiago. The main character, Chato, is a young Hispanic boy living in a neighborhood like the ones I saw when I was little. After reading the book, although I never thought I would have anything in common with people who lived like that, I learned that Chato and I have do have similarities, but we have more differences.

Martinez’s story is not so much one that pieces together the events of the crash, nor the lives of the three youths, but it is an immigrant’s tale, discovered through the crossings of the various Chavez family members and profiles of Cheranos in Mexico.
Slick showed Rios the “hotspots” where life shapes these youth environments. The structure, as well as the constraints, that shape these young boys life in the neighborhood, slick points out a corner where one of his best friends got shot by a drive-by shooting. The lifestyle of these young boys is tragic.

I truly believe that every single person in the world has a purpose in life. God created each and every one of us for a reason. Whether we know it or not our life is planned and we follow a path throughout our life. In this path, we have the option to make good decisions or bad decisions. In order to achieve salvation and enter a virtuous after life we had to do deeds that had a positive impact on other people. In order to do this though, one must have the self-discipline and devotion to God. There are many obstacles that can get in the way of achieving this goal and the main one is our desires. Desire is a strong feeling of something we want or wish to have. Our desire negatively impacts our life because it detaches our body both physically and emotionally from our mind which then influences us to make morally wrong decisions.
