“ A Raisin in the Sun” is a play that were produced in 1959 , it was set in an area where racism was still happening and hold a lot of issues in which black people were still facing racial problems. Lorraine Hansberry, the playwright, was an African American women who achieved unexpected success when her play became famous and Not only were successful women playwrights was rare at the time, but also successful young black women playwrights were very unusual thing to hear at that time. However The Younger family faced these problems throughout the play. The entire family was affected in many ways and The younger family has big dreams and hope to make more of their poor lives.
In the play there are many obstacles that each character faces, one character in detail is Beneatha younger she is a strong and independent woman. she is Walter’s younger sister and Mama lena daughter “She is about 20 years old. She is as slim as her brother. She is not as pretty as her sister in law but her lean, almost intellectual face has a handsomeness of its own” , however Beneatha's is not like any other typical 20-year-old black woman in the 1950's because she goes to college and she tries to achieve her dream of becoming a doctor without the help of a man to support her.
Beneatha has many admirers including George and Agasai, Agasai is a wealthy African American man who wants to take beneatha to Africa with him. She feels excited and her girlish side suddenly shows up and since Beneatha is a strong and independent woman she will not take no for an answer. she also tells Mama about her belief in god and how she cant accept the Idea that god should get all the credit for what the humans have done or achieve But since Mama is a religious p...

The similarities between beneatha and Mama is that even though they tend to argue with each other sometimes they’d still care and love each other and try to make up for their mistakes and they also have the same skin tone and strong personality.
To conclude , the family has finally forgotten their desperation and moved to thier new house for a new life. Although they knew it was hard to start all over again, but for them, it was as if their lives had just begun. Lorraine Hansberry have successfuly characterized the characters such beneatha and Mama in the story as human beings with desires, dreams, ambition, conflict, weak spot, and strength.And it was "A Raisin in the Sun" that expressed those dreams and desires and how they ended up as "dreams deferred."
