Isn’t it funny? How, something written in the year of 1850, can still teach us about our lives today? In our day and age, people work so hard to protect and shield their hearts, yet is that truly the best thing to do? An open heart affects your whole life, and yet most people don't understand the importance of a pure and open heart. Sadly most parents these days are failing at taking up that responsibility. It’s a lost art, yet there are people who have hearts as wide and as open as a golden gate. Open hearts are hard to find. Finding a role model that has their heart in the right place can be a true challenge as well. For example, look at our government; they certainly don’t have any openness in their hearts, except for a few people who surprise the public. The government of the Unites States has trouble with the truth, and yet we pride ourselves for being upright and honest. Of course, compared to other countries we are so much more ethical with our justice system. Yet in this country we have deceit, betrayal, and these people hide their true selves. They’re scared because they think that if they show weakness or flaw for any sort, that people will think lesser of them and create rumors. The United States was made off of the idea of truth, justice, and freedom. Nonetheless, we still hide parts of ourselves for fear of judgment, even if some of us understand that the one and only Lord give the real judgment that matters.Some people might say that if they open their full hearts to the world, that they will get hurt easier. Because remember that this is a sinful world and either way you will get hurt. Closing off your heart is when you have basically an iron lock on your heart. It numbs it. And in a way, it destroys it. You see, your heart is a living, part of you. And God is your nourishment and he basically pours life into you, using the Holy Spirit. Now, cutting off that life and that nourishment causes your heart to Harden and shrivel up inside you. And suddenly your spirit becomes trapped inside the void of worldliness, consisting of depression, isolation, and self hate. Keep in mind, that isolation is the Devil’s playground because as soon as you become isolated, you have no outlet. You have no one to pull you out of that place. You have no sense of how far into darkness your drifting. And that’s where it becomes dangerous. Because all of that hurt. All of that bitterness gets bottled up inside you. Soon, only God and release your heart from that bitterness and hurt. Once you do it changes your life forever.Hearts affect every single aspect in your life and it affects the people around you, the more open and honest your heart is, the better the outcome. Because as soon as you open your heart to him it changes everything. Perspective. Emotional health. Mental health. Your faith. How you approach this broken world. Everything relies on where your heart is
