In George Orwell’s book “1984” it has many situations. One of the many situations are that some people refer society as “Orwellian.” People believe that Orwell is realistic and says he is part of our society now. George Orwell was a writer in the twentieth century. He was a totalitarian. Also he wrote about dystopias. George Orwell wrote the book “1984” June 8,1949 and a little before that. The world was eager for it! Within twelve months, it had sold around fifty thousand hardbacks in the UK; in the U.S. sales were more than one-third of a millionGeorge Orwell was from London, he was born in British India. He is a British subject some might say. George had two wives. He is a Britain Born Indian. There are many people that think that the book “1984” is a satire and there are others that believe that is as real as a book can get. The people that have not even read the book or know anything about, however they do know who Big Brother is and Orwellian. People hear about Big Brother and Orwellian on the news and pretty much anywhere. Orwell was not aware that his book had such an impact on the world. People believe in his book, look up to Orwell and his book 1984.I believe that George Orwell’s book “1984” is as real as it comes. Personally I think that this is a realistic story because the of all of the camps and how people got into those camps. The other thing that is realistic is the amount of apathy the citizenry has, and the hopelessness of changing the situation. Even in a free country people find it overwhelming to oppose the government or even stand up for what they believe in. The main character in George Orwell’s book “1984” is a thirty-nine year old man with the name of Winston Smith. Winston Smith creates thought c... ... middle of paper ... ...uldn’t just go to the store to buy some sugar because they limited their supplies. They limited their supplies because they didn’t want families to buy the store out and not leave enough food for everybody else. George Orwell’s book “1984” really opened up a lot of peoples eyes and minds including mine. I hope that the government doesn’t go that far like in the book. Clearly I have told you about the characters in George Orwell’s book “1984” and why they were a big part in the book, the characters were Julia, Winston Smith, O’brien, and Big Brother. I also told you and why people thought that the book “1984” was a satirical story and why a lot of people think that the book isn’t a satire, I do believe that this book is not a satire, I told you why I think that it isn’t a satire and how that the country has changed for good and that the country has changed for bad.
