The depiction of humans through out time has never seemed to be similar in artistic forms. For Moira Purver and Ron Mueck, though from he same time era of art, have extremely different outlooks on how man should look. Where Purver takes a more figurative way, Mueck takes a eerie realistic approach. Both artists shine the light on humans impurities and make a statement on how we see our species whether we like it or not. Purver and Mueck simply see humans but put a deeper meaning into their artwork for the audience to decipher to what they want to see. While the artists are very different at first glance because of the attention to detail and use of materials but their though process is to be the same lying underneath.
The German - Australian artist who has debuted works of huge hyperrealistic sculptures of regular humans is Ron Mueck. They are made out of acrylic, fiberglass, and silicon. She has been working since he was 17 years old. Her work was initially made out of clay, wax, or plasticine but more recently she has been working with bronze resin. In her art she displays a single man, woman or animal most of the time. She also has sculpted many couples dancing. She focuses on the surfaces and movements of the candid human. In 2011 Purver was elected an associate member of the Society of Women 's artist for her sculpture “ Male Torso” in her 2010 exhibition. One of my favorite works of hers is “Solitude.” There isn 't much deeper meaning to it, which is why i like it so much. It is a bronze sculpture of a woman with her head in her lap. Its perceived as a young women who has probably had a tough day and is taking a breather so she can containue with her burdens as we all do.
