The American dream to many is the social climb of classes and accumulation of wealth. For some it is just maybe getting their dream job or getting into their number one college. Everyone has dreams of what they want to be or do when they are older. Many have no clue if they are making the right decision, but some are so determined that nothing could get into their way. Some people just have dreams of doing something they enjoy but never really imagine it going that far. All major companies started off as ideas that someone had and decided to make it into a reality. Some companies like Apple, Disney, Google and Nike all started with a few friends getting together and wanting to achieve something that no one has done. A man who achieved his American Dream and turned it into a reality was Bill Gates. Bill was one of the founders of Microsoft, a multi national technology company that took off by storm. Achieving the American Dream has been the ideal for people living in the United States for decades. People believed that the way to get there was through hard work, also known as the “Protestant work ethic”. The American Dream can vary depending on the person. Some people think that owning a house with a white picket-fence is the American Dream while others think that it is becoming a celebrity with a lot of money.
The term “American Dream” is defined as an idea which believes that all people have the possibility of prosperity and success. The idea first came from James Adams, a noted American writer and historian. He claimed, “Life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability and achievement.” Therefore, the core concepts of the American Dream were closely linked to hard work and opportunity.

The American Dream is the idea for any person, no matter race, color, or creed, to become wealthy in a society by hard work and dedication. The idea starts when you're a child, if you see your parents working and earning a living. The idea is absorbed in the child’s head to do good in life, so he can succeed and do the same things as them. It all starts when you are 22 and coming out of college. During those four years of college you choose your career and hopefully become adept at it.
