Imagine waking up one morning tied to a chair with a gun pointed to your head. That person on the other side of the gun makes the decision on whether you live or die. How would you feel if someone else took away your ability to live? Nothing you say or do will change the fact that you may die right then. Likewise, babies do not have a choice on life or death when they are in their mother 's womb. If the mother decides to abort her child, the baby has no say. I believe that abortion is wrong under most circumstances.
Abortion was legalized in America on January 22, 1973. A United States Representative says he has tracked down well over 54 million deaths from abortion since then. In 2012, there were 699,202 deaths from legal induced abortions …show more content…

In an article done by Frederica Mathewes-Green from “Feminists for Life,” she has recorded evidence that the mother suffers serious repercussions following abortion. For example, it is natural at the end of pregnancy for the cervix to open up. During abortion, the cervix is pried open very quickly, damaging the surrounding muscles that could put any future pregnancies at risk of miscarriage. Scarring can also be done when the vacuum enters her body, which could make it so that the woman would never be able to get pregnant because the sperm cannot reach the egg. This procedure can be considered more invasive then than rape, a strange doctor entering her body and sucking a big portion out of her insides. Infections are also very likely to happen after this procedure. Women still suffer through a depression similar to post partum depression after the termination. According to a study done by Britain’s Royal College of Psychiatrists, 81 percent of women that have the procedure done are subsequent to suffering from mental health problems. Some women attempt suicide after abortion. There are several psychological conditions that follow abortions. Some may experience emotions similar to anxiety, grief and guilt. There have been several cases where young ladies are persuaded by their guardians to have an abortion and suffer from the same psychological conditions. Dr. Alfred Bongiovanni, former professor of pediatrics and obstetrics at the University of Pennsylvania, stated: "...I submit that human life is present throughout this entire sequence from conception to adulthood and that any interruption at any point throughout this time constitutes a termination of human life..." (Why Life Begins at Conception) Murder is defined by Webster’s dictionary as deliberately killing a person. So if life is present throughout the entire pregnancy, and someone terminates this process that is clearly murder. Some may argue that the Supreme Court has declared it as women’s “fundamental right” to be able to terminate pregnancy if they wanted to. It is her choice because it is her body. Her body is being used to grow a baby so it is no longer just her body. She is sharing it with the growing human inside. A pro-choice individual may add that the babies are not independent, that they cannot live without the mom therefore abortion is just termination of the pregnancy not a real human life. Pregnancy is defined by Webster dictionary as “the condition of a woman or female animal that is going to have a baby or babies: the condition of a pregnant woman or female animal.” The mother may not have the funds to support this baby.
