Abortion Abortion is one of the most highly arguable and controversial topic. It is an ethical issue that has been discussed and debated for decades. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy (citation). Those who defend and stand for abortion are the Pro-Choice group. Pro Choice believe abortion is rightfully a woman 's choice on what she chooses to do with her body. In people’s daily personal lives, situation will not always be black and white. A state cannot simply pass a law that states that abortion is illegal because there are case by case scenario where abortion may be the best option for women. The three main religions, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, all view abortion as morally wrong and a major sin. All the religions have taken strong positions on abortion; they believe that the issue encompasses profound issues of life and death, right and wrong, human relationships and the nature of society, that make it a major religious concern. Abortion in their view point is the same as murder. The fetus is a blessing from God and should not be terminated. However, the religions share a common belief that God forgives all sins. Saying nothing is beyond the reach of God 's mercy, Pope Francis told Catholics worldwide he is allowing all priests to absolve the faithful of abortion — women and health workers alike — even while stressing that it is a grave sin in the eyes of the church to "end an innocent life." The fetus itself is its own organism, therefore separating itself from the mother. They are not one, they are two separate organisms. An unborn child must be regarded as a human person with all the rights of a person from the moment of conception onward. However, an unborn child cannot give consent to anything therefore making the mother responsible for the actions she feels is best for the child and her. The mother is carrying the child for nine months therefore her well-being also needs to be considered, mental and emotional well-being. The fetus cannot survive or grow on its own without the mother and should not be considered a separate organism.
