A democracy is a system of government in which the power is in the possession of the people. The electoral college is a indirect election introduced by the Founding Fathers who established electoral college in the Constitution as an agreement between election of the president by a vote in congress. Electoral votes are based on the sum of 100 senators (2 per state) and 438 representatives (distributed by population) , which adds up to 538 electors who cast the vote to decide the president and vice president of the United States.
