Kwame Nkrumah

Ghana has a great history and this history began on the hand of a man called Kwame Nkrumah. He was the first and the best president of Ghana. Most of Ghana's population think he was a hero and did a lot for his country and worked very hard to raise his country and nation up. To some people, Kwame Nkrumah was nothing ,but a loser and did not do anything in his life. And they also think he ruined their economy and he is responsible for their troubles till now. Now who is Kwame Nkrumah?

Kwame Nkrumah was born in 21 September 1909. He was the leader of Ghana and its predecessor state, the Gold Coast, from 1951 to 1966. Overseeing the nation's independence from British colonization in 1957, Nkrumah was the first President of Ghana and the first Prime Minister of Ghana. An influential 20th-century advocate of Pan-Africanism, he was a founding member of the Organization of African Unity and was the winner of the Lenin Peace Prize .in 1963. He saw himself as an African Lenin. He was dead on 27 April 1972.
Kwame Nkrumah was born in Nkroful, Gold Coast. Kwame Nkrumah studied to be a teacher at Achimota School in Accra from 1925 to 1935. For the following five years he worked as a teacher in several schools in the Gold Coast including a Roman Catholic school in Axiom, while he was saving money to continue his education in the United States of America. In 1935, Nkrumah sailed from Takoradi, Gold Coast, to Liverpool, England, and made his way to London, England, where he applied and received his student visa from the American Embassy. He was the only child of his parents. His father worked as a farmer for 31 years while his mother was bread maker.

This remarkable life story, which touches on many of the issues facing modern Africa, will open a window of understanding for the general leader as well as for graduate and undergraduate classes.

He started explaining how GB was turning Ghana into a big gold mine and a bigger plantation, how GB was making all the money leaving nothing to Ghanaian and Ghana ,and how GB will never help Ghana become a modern industrial country. Speech after speech, he kept travelling and, delivering until he united the whole country under his leadership. He had the welfare of Ghana in his mind. And now and after all of this I think that Kwame Nkrumah was and will be the best president Ghana have ever had and all of us are sad because the loose of him.
