Geography:
Iceland’s wide mass of rivers and lakes are the result of glaciers melting. The reason for the glaciers melting is the very hot weather in the summer causing the larger quantity of water rather than in the winter. Hopefully the glaciers are without any harmful chemicals on them. “One can safely drink from almost any lake or river, although glacial water is not particularly tasty,” (Angler.is).
Out of all of the rivers in Iceland, the Thjorsa River is the largest, ranging approximately143 miles (230 km). “On its way southward, Thjorsa passes a lava field named after the river,” (Board). This river is best known for its fishing experiences for it has an abundant amount of fish including: “salmon, trout, tar, salmon trout, stickleback, eel, and the European Flounder” (Board).
Known for being the largest inherent lake in Iceland, Lake Thingvallavatn expands to a superlative depth of 374 feet (114 meters). Just like the Thjorsa River, Lake Thingvallavatn is best known for its fishing experience, particularly for its salmon population. It is also known for is diving attractions, “for scuba divers at Lake Thingvallavatn, the Silfra Rift is one of the top dive destinations on the planet,” (Lakelubbers). Volcanic islands are mottled throughout the lake creating a beautiful landscape for outdoor activities such as hiking and horseback riding.
Waterfalls show a sense of sheer power and raw beauty, which is precisely the reason why Iceland’s waterfalls are the most perceivable series of attractions. These waterfalls are the top-most, crowd-pleasing tourist attractions in all of Iceland. “The falls range from powerful and wide river-type monsters like Dettifoss, Gullfoss, and Godafoss to tall and narrow ones like Glymur, Haifoss, ...

One of the best known war involving Iceland is the Cod War. According to the TED Case Studies, between the years of 1975 and 1976 Iceland and Great Britain confronted each other over Iceland’s proclaiming its authority over the ocean up to 200 miles from its coast. “This dispute centered on Iceland’s decision to extend its zone of control over fishing. This particular war went through three disputes over the same thing.” (TED Case Studies)
Iceland has went through a lot throughout the last five years. In 2008 a financial crisis occurred disrupting the economy drastically. In 2009 Johanna Siguroardottir became the first woman Prime Minister of Iceland. Iceland went through drastic changes that have altered their nation, however they have made a positive impact on the Icelandic nation.
A man in Iceland who has monitored glaciers predicted that by the end of the century, Iceland will be ice free. Not something you would expect from a land that has had glaciers for over two million years. On the tips of glacier in Greenland, researchers found water in places there had not been water in maybe thousands of years.
The history of medieval Iceland and its society is evidenced through the sagas that were produced during that era. The history of the Icelandic Commonwealth is founded in the history of European settlers by their self- governing through common consent instead of a king or priest. This period reveals a political structure that emphasized a personal independence and law. As revealed through Icelandic Sagas such as Njal's Saga, there was no political state to enforce the rules and obligations of a structured society. The patriarchal society pursued its ends without any interference from a common enforcement agency and they acted on their own behalf to achieve safety and legitimate rights.
"The origin and evolution of saga writing in Iceland are largely matters for speculation. A common pastime on Icelandic farms, from the 12th century down to modern times, was the reading aloud of stories to entertain the household, known as sagnaskemmtun ("saga entertainment"). It seems to have replaced the traditional art of storytelling" (Hermann Palsson, pg. 1). Njal's Saga uses Old Icelandic writing convention and historical data to give a fictional account of a generation's lifestyle and struggles.
The park's major attraction is the 129-foot Burney Falls, which is fed by Burney Creek and is considered to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the United States and the most beautiful in California. Because of their geological formations and position, the falls appear as if they are a continuous wall of streaming water. Additional water is added to the falls from naturally-occurring underground springs and when the water from the springs meets the water from the creek, a mist-filled basin is created, making the falls even more spectacular. 100 million gallons of water flow through the falls every day.
From around the time during the Lower Paleolithic Era, which was about 1.8 million years ago, into the Upper Paleolithic Era, or 20,000 years ago, Europe was sparsely populated by Homo Erectus and Homo Neanderthalensis. The ancient ancestors of modern humans. They were a hunter-gather types of people that were eventually replaced by Homo Sapiens Sapiens, modern humans.
Rivers all over the United States create geological features that fascinate many people, whether it is for work or for play. Rivers also pose a threat to many towns every year as spring rains and snow melt fill these rivers to beyond capacity, causing them to overflow their banks; flooding the surrounding areas. Rivers may cause floods, however, they also provide many benefits to society. One of the most notable is hydroelectric power, which often leads to a river being dammed. A dammed river creates a reliable location for adventure companies to establish whitewater rafting businesses that utilizes the flow of the river through rapids and scenic views to create a thrill for adventure seeking customers.
Kosoag Lake. From what I remember of the historical facts I gathered from growing up, asking questions, and pretending to listen, Kosoag Lake was earth. The lake was a part of Native American land flooded out for God knows what reason. In essence, it is a man-made lake, and that is why it is clean and beautiful. The water doesn’t contain oily swirls created by Mercury 250’s flying by as extreme sportists hang on for dear life. There is no room for that kind of foreplay here.
The Niagara River is very unique in the way that it drains water along the ninety-nine meter elevation drop down which it flows. The water drained differs according to the time of the day and the season as some water is diverted to create hydroelectric energy. The volume of water during the day over the Niagara Falls when it is tourist season, April 1st to October 31st, must not be less than 2,832 m3/s. During the winter months, anything not in the tourist season, the water flow over the Fa...
The Norse had a structure to their society. They had kings and priests, Jarls and lords, freemen and slaves (thralls). Before the formal organization of the Scandinavian countries, the Norse were considered a single people that consisted of family clans. Nordic society was set and organized with a deliberate means to the ends.
• Just like human beings, fish need food, oxygen, and shelter. These three basic needs dictate the location of fish in the ice and just realizing this will make winter fishing a lot easier.
Niagara Falls, one of the worlds greatest natural wonders, can only be described as breath taking. No matter what time of year, whether it’s the beautiful rainbows glistening in the mist, or the magnificent ice bridge created by the cold of winter, Niagara Falls always seems to amaze it’s viewers.

The Philippine War of 1899, was opposed by many Americans and was fought for three years, resulting in tons of deaths and U.S taking over Philippine Island. As an annexation of Philippine was important for U.S economy, I believe that there were other ways to take over the Philippine Island rather than a War.
The Stone Age is the period of time when early humans first began to make and use tools fabricated from stone. Other materials such as wood, bone, and antler were also used for the making of tools, but stone, especially flint stone, was primarily used for cutting.
Niagara Falls reigns as one of the most popular tourist attractions in all of New York. Known as a series of three parts that connect the border between the United States and Canada, Niagara Falls holds a lot of tourism potential as the world’s second largest waterfall at 3,950 feet wide (Conservative Institute). Even so, many people venture from all over the world to see its wonders and stare in awe at its grandness and beauty. The three parts that together make up this major landmark include the Bridal Veil Falls, the American Falls, and Horseshoe Falls. Both the Bridal Falls and the American Falls lie completely on United States territory, while the Horseshoe Falls lies on the border between the United States and Canada (History.com Staff, 2010). Over the years, Niagara Falls has been a subject of many topics, including its formation, discovery,
