It was used to indicate that the defining feature is violation of antisocial behavior. Robert Hare, who may believe that biological factors are predominant in causing psychopathy, claimed that sociopathy and psychopathy are often used interchangeably, but in some cases the term sociopathy is preferred because it is less likely than is psychopathy to be confused with psychosis. Hare also believed that sociopath was made due to social factors whereas psychopathy was made by psychological, biological, and genetic factors. Sociology has been in the process of being studied for years. It is uncertain why people are just diagnosed as a “sociopath”. Why does this happen? Are these people different from everyone else? Well to answer that, the answer is no. They are normal people just like everyone else who just happen to think differently than others at times. Sociopaths have the ability to somewhat control their thoughts, because they are not crazy, just harmed.
The psychopath know the reasons behind acting a certain way and just don't think about the consequences. Even in the DSM-IV clear definitions of a psychopath doe not exist but the closes to diagnose is anti-social personality disorder. Dr. Hare instead developed the Psychopathy Checklist for people to diagnose psychopathy. The first part of the Psychopathy Checklist looks at the emotional and interpersonal traits of the disorder(Hare, 1993). Some of the emotional qualities that the clinician would look for is as followed: glib/superficial, egocentric/grandiose and lack of empathy.
Antisocial attitudes and lack of conscience are the main aspects that define the notorious term, sociopath. This personality disorder may lead to nefarious people, but not all sociopaths are criminals or ensuing criminals. One woman, by the name of M. E. She works as a successful law professor and hosts her family and friends; however, she still has the same tendencies as those who share the same condition yet are in prison.

However, this can be hard because patients can be egotistical, and believe they do not need treatment, or simply because they do not want to (Mayo Clinic, n.d.).
Experts believe that these two share similar traits, such as incapable of feeling or understand the emotions of others and lack of sense to determine what is right or wrong. But the key difference between a sociopath and a psychopath is the ability to have a conscience.
It stems from an underlying sense of rage. Sociopaths feel deeply angry and resentful underneath their often-charming exterior, and this rage fuels their sense that they have the right to act out in whichever way they happen to choose at the time. Everything is up for grabs with sociopaths and nothing is off limits. Meyers - "The 'Meyers'"
Sociopaths have a strong need to be right. They can be convincing and an expert and knowledgeable in what interests them (Cangemi & Pfohl, 2009). Because of these personality traits, they could be good employees, leaders, inventors or even doctors. They would be able to contribute positively to society by inventing something to make people life better, or invent a cure or new medicine.
Psychopaths and sociopaths have different origins. Every person is different, most of the time. Yet, they all share similarities of their upbringings. There is a common theory residing for both sociopaths and psychopaths, and it is called nurture versus nature. These things imply that one was due to society that changed them, forming into the empathy lacking humans they

It is a common human trait to not want to be at fault for the shortfalls that can occur and so it seems likely that people would be reluctant to accept that the behaviour of those diagnosed with psychopathy comes purely as a result of the environment in which they have been brought up without at least considering the possibility of a genetic or neurological difference and so the theme being probed into is could there be something in the genetic makeup of psychopaths that sets them apart from the other 99% of the world’s population?
