The Chrysler corporation was founded by Walter Chrysler in 1925. Chrysler is one of the Big Three American automobile manufactures. The Big Three is when used in relation to the America automotive industry, most generally refers to the three major US automotive companies: General Motors, Chrysler,and Ford. The team are also sometimes used in relation to the Three major automakers of other countries. Chrysler greatly expanded in 1928, when it acquired the Fargo Truck Company and the Dodge Brothers Company and began selling vehicles under those brands: that same year, it also established the Plymouth and Desoto automobile brands.
Chrysler was sold to an American private firm Management and renamed Chrysler, LLC, in 2007. Like the other Big Three

The United States recession (which lead to a world recession), began in 1997 and significantly impacted the United States automobile industry during the recession period. The United States automobile industry is still reeling from the effects of the recession throughout the period of economic recovery that continues today. According to Chu and Su, “In this credit-driven recession, one of the hardest hit sectors was the automotive industry, along with the housing and financial markets. Chrysler and General Motors were pushed into bankruptcy; and 276,000 jobs in the automobile and parts industry were destroyed, a whopping 36 percent of the total employment in the sector”.
Two major car companies, General Motors (GM) and Chrysler, went bankrupt during the Great Recession. The Government had to make a choice; to get involved with helping them, which would help the economy, or let them fight for themselves. Both choices would leave some American citizens mad at the government. The Government decided to help them by establishing the Auto Bailout along with other programs like TARP. Although some think the Auto Bailout didn’t help small supplier companies, it was the right move for the government to take because it helped stop our economy from going further into a depression.

As the nation was introduced into the current recession, the auto industry and its labor was likely hurt more than any other industry. Few years ago it was the homebuilding industry that was troubled the most and held the first place, but it gave that position over to the auto industry the following year. Why was this industry affected more than any other is very interesting and complex situation. There are several factors why there was such a huge negative impact on this industry, its performance, and the labor involved. Some of the major reasons are very high foreign competition, higher oil prices, and certainly the recession.

After WWII, the company suffered again but survived later when Herbert Quandt took over the control in 1959. The company rapidly grew considerably and reached a market value of nine billion U.S. dollars in 1979; however, it was still small compared to the big U.S. auto manufacturer. Profits continued to grow up quickly. By 1995, BMW had thirty-four wholly owned subsidiaries, fourteen in Germany and twenty around the world. They also discovered that U.S. market would be the largest and fastest growing market for BMW.

Since Fiat was called on for a lot of equipment during WWI, Fiat became well known throughout Europe. As years passed Fiat began to also acquire other automobile companies such as Lancia, Autobianchi, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Maserati and Ferrari. In 1988, 59.9% of the vehicles sold and approximately 99.2% of the automobiles produced in Italy were made by Fiat. The company continued to enter numerous international agreements for the manufacturer of Fiat products and to expand its investments. This also lead to new factories that were built outside of Italy, which were South Africa, Yugoslavia, Argentina, Turkey and Mexico.

For the sake of this project, I will be focusing on BMW’s automobile range mentioned above but specifically the 3 series line. The BMW 3 series proves to be the most profitable line due to its relatively low cost and affordability whilst featuring the thrill and power of a German engineered vehicle.
