Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all religions. Some of them are even a way of life. These religions have from 14,000 to 2.2 billion people practicing each one! This essay will describe how Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all have one holiday, one place of worship, one symbol and the differences of the three topics.
People who practice these religions probably don’t want to be miserably cold or hot while they practice their religion. They also might want to meet other people who practice the same religion. These reasons are why all five religions have a place of worship. Many go to their place of worship at least once a week and a special day of that religion, like a holiday. Christians have a choice to worship at a church, chapel or cathedral depending on what type of Christianity they practice. Jews go to a synagogue. Churches and synagogues have similar insides. For example, in a church, the place you pray and worship is in the sanctuary. The sanctuary looks similar to the place Jews worship in a synagogue. Buddhists and Hindus both worship in a temple. However, each temple looks different on the outside. Hindu temples are usually are tall and start skinny on top, then expand as you get to ground level. They also are colorful, and have statues of some of the hundreds of gods in the religion. Buddhist temples usually are rectangles and have a triangular roof. They can range in colors. On the inside they are very colorful and have a statue of the buddha near the worship and praying room. The Islamic place of worship is different from all the religions. It is called a mosque and is beautifully decorated on the outside, but dull on the inside with hardly any furniture. It also has a bi...

...en. The cross represents that Jesus died on the cross for Christians. The ichthus comes from a greek word that means fish, and looks like a fish. It means “Jesus Christ Son of God.” Last, but not least, the two most famous Jewish symbols are the menorah and the Star of David. The menorah is candle holder that holds seven candles and is found in Jewish homes and in the Jewish synagogues. It symbolizes the burning bush Moses saw on Mount Sinai. The Star of David resembles God’s protection. Just as all flags are different, most of the symbols are different for each religion. However, they still do their job. They represent their religion visually very well.
Religions are just like people. People are different colors, sizes, and shapes, yet people have similarities. Religions have different places of worships, holidays and symbols, but have similarities too.
