“Success id going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.” This was said by the late but great Winston Churchill. This quote gives insight to his character by showing that Churchill would persevere through anything. This attitude of never giving up coupled with never being afraid is why we still read about him in history books. It is also what allowed him to lead the great nation of Britain in World War II despite the outlook of victory being slim to none. Winston Churchill was one of the greatest wartime leaders in history due to his great speaking skills that were derived from his courage and perseverance. Churchill developed this perseverance from a young age. Many of his teachers and his parents labeled him as lazy and said he would do nothing with his life (ben). For an ordinary person this would have destroyed their morale and led to an unfulfilling life. It’s a good thing that Churchill was the opposite of ordinary. He used the words of his teachers and parents to motivate himself to achieve success no matter the obstacle in his way (ben). This perseverance helped Churchill become Prime Minister of Britain during World War II. In the years and months leading up to the war, Churchill was a lone voice warning about Germany rearming their military and the dangers of letting Hitler invade other countries with no repercussions (supply). While Churchill was warning of the threat of Nazi Germany many people labeled him as a war happy lunatic. This did not stop Churchill because in his heart he knew he was right and when war was finally declared he was promptly made the Prime Minister (supply). This undying perseverance also helped during the war as Churchill’s goal was total victory and nothing would stop him from achieving it. This is shown in one of his speeches where he exclaimed, “You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory. Victory at all costs—Victory in spite of all terror—" (telegraph).
