Studies have shown that kids gain more knowledge with a break before they learn in class. Students are constantly stuck in class, sitting down all day. Without a break, students get restless and are never able to relax. Students should have breaks during the school day because they won't be sitting in a chair all day, it will allow them to clear their minds, and they will retain the information better.
Oh the alarm clock is ringing time to go to school. For some high school students getting enough rest is a challenge. Seattle schools are pushing their start times back to 8:45 a.m instead of 8:00. To me this shouldn’t happen. I believe that school should start at the regular time and not make the tenns slack off and sleep in. It is the teens own fault they aren’t getting enough rest. Parents should limit their kids from being out so late on school nights. The late school start would also move after school practices like football, to a later time. After being up late at night doing homework and studying what student wants to get up first thing in the morning and go to school? In my opinion, not many. With the lack of sleep after being up late, going to school and trying to focus and learn can become a very difficult task, which in the end ultimately makes students irritated and angry. Whereas, if school started later, students would be able to get more sleep at night and wake up feeling more refreshed and ready to learn. Better focus and being less tired can also lead to having better grades, which would then help students have more self confidence and a better attitude towards school. For these reasons, I truly believe starting school at a later time would be favorable to students.
