1. Why do you want to become a Medical Practitioner / Health Professional?
The medical profession has interested me since I was a child. I have always had a keen interest in science and the human body. I also enjoy working and interacting with people. I feel that clinical medicine strikes an ideal balance between science and people that I would find satisfying in a career.

Medicine also has an exciting future, with new technologies and research affecting all aspects of medical practice. I look forward to the prospect of being involved in the changing face of healthcare and the lifelong learning that is synonymous with this career.

Further to this, my degree in public health and health sciences reiterated the importance of quality healthcare for populations. It brought into focus the disparities that exist, and the …show more content…

Particularly empathy, and my strong drive to make a difference to people’s lives. I have no doubt that I will go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to patient care.

I volunteered in the geriatric wards at Princess Margaret Hospital, Christchurch when I was a high school student. I helped with transporting patients to and from facilities. Working in a hospital setting developed my understanding and appreciation for the work conducted by medical professionals.

At present I work part-time looking after a severely autistic 7 year old child.

I volunteered my time with the Student Volunteer Army, the voluntary organisation set up to help people to deal with the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquake (New Zeaand). It was the most satisfying work I have done so far, helping people in need in my city’s darkest
