At the end of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, bodies cover the stage. Paris, Tybalt, Romeo, and Juliet all lie in the Capulet tomb having paid the ultimate price for the enmity between the two families. In the course of events, Mercutio and Lady Montague have died as well. Not only are the Montagues and Capulets struck with grief, but you, too, have lost a pair of kinsman. In the face of this tragic waste of young lives, you declare that some characters will be pardoned and others punished. Based on their words and actions in the play, the three characters that I think are most responsible for the actual deaths of Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet are Romeo, Tybalt, and the nurse.
