An American President: Franklin D. Roosevelt By: Jacob Milner Franklin D. Roosevelt is an iconic president. His Background consist of his birth and birth locations he was born in Hyde Park, New York on January 30, 1882. He attended Harvard College and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in history. He then studied law at Columbia University, he then passed the bar examination in 1907, he left school without taking a degree. For the next three years he practiced law with a prominent New York City law firm. In 1910 he entered politics and was elected his states senator as a democrat in a predominantly republican area. FDR’s Political ideology was formed from many people. Some of these people include Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and his wife Eleanor Roosevelt. Roosevelt was facing allegations from the republican party for apparently leaving his dog Fala on a family trip in the Aleutian Islands At the taxpayers expense the navy was reportedly sent a naval destroyer to pick the dog up. Roosevelt's response was simply him judging the republican leaders for making such an senseless accusation to derive the president from the people, making it seem like the president is wasting the money from the taxpayers that he helped. There was no serious political impact from this allegation and it didn't bother the administration. There is two main options of the public's view of FDR, for the working class, They Viewed the President as a visionary. One who worked for the people and made it so the people can live without debt and unemployment. On the other hand, the major business owners viewed the president very badly. They viewed this way because the president wanted to take away their power to control their people. He wanted to tax the major companies and give the peoples money back to
