The character who is notable to be the first African-American princess for Disney movies is Tiana. She is also one of the first Disney princesses who does not let things magically come to her because she was aware she had to work for what she wanted in life. At the beginning of the movie in modern-time New Orleans, her main goal was introduced. This was when people in her neighborhood tasted and adored the gumbo she and her father created together. Afterwards, when she, her mother, and her father were in a room together, they talked about creating a restaurant. The circumstances of her almost losing her restaurant building did not change her attitude toward reaching her goals in life. Tiana is a round character. This is true because her personality is shown completely and the audience learns a lot about her. She has a few character foils, or characters with opposing traits which make hers stand out more. Charlotte La Bouff, her best friend, was rich, ditsy, spoiled from her father, and was a dreamer rather than a doer. For example, when the prince was late to Charlotte’s party, she was wishing on the brightest star in the sky for the prince to arrive soon. Charlotte’s differences from Tiana show her Tiana’s level-headed, hard-working self who does not have everything she wants at her fingertips. Prince Naveen, on the other hand, was lazy, carefree, flirty, and he waits for objects to fall in his lap, but Tiana’s work was what her main dedication goes. Additionally, her interest in a relationship was minute. When Prince Naveen appears in the movie, girls drooled over him and he later stated he was cut off by his family money-wise but he does not have a job either. At the beginning of the movie, the audience is intended to be devastated when Tiana’s dreams and hard work for her restaurant get put on pause and nearly thrown away. Unexpectedly, she turned into a frog by kissing the frog form of Prince Naveen. This most likely would not have happened if Naveen was aware of Tiana not being a princess, although she was dressed as one. Dr. Facilier, the main antagonist, and his friends from the other side are the main cause for the conflict. Because the prince and Lawrence’s unhappiness of whom they are in life, the antagonist turned Prince Naveen into a frog and Lawrence took his body. As a result of this conflict, Tiana, the protagonist in the story, was forced to find a way to become human again along with Prince Naveen after nearly losing her sanity because of her sticky situation. Throughout the movie, the two hopping frogs were first being attacked by frightened people, nearly became food for alligators, taken in the completely wrong direction when a friendly, trumpet playing alligator, Louis, tries to help them find Mama Odie, and feared they were going to be frogs forever after Charlotte La Bouff happened to be late kissing frog Prince Naveen before the clock struck 12 A.M. Mr. Facilier was vulnerable when Tiana had possession of his amulet but he was threatening. He even caused many, including both the audience and movie characters, some tears when he stepped on the adorable
