Recommended: Community service hours essay

For my 5 service hours I served at the Trunk or Treat. I thought I learned about about myself and the ones I worked for and I think that you would enjoy this activity as much as I did. For my service hours this year I worked at the Trunk or Treat for Halloween at the Water of life in Upland. I assisted by set up the booths and helped pass out candy to the people that walked by. I helped set up the banners and direct people where to park. Also, I helped Pastor Willie by transferring out all of the equipment in the truck and maneuvering them to wear there needed to be placed . We unloaded candy, presents, and balloons from the truck. When I helped I did it with a happy heart and I did it willingly. Overall, It was a great experience and a learned a lot while serving for Water Of Life Community Church. I assisted them by passing out candy, playing with the kids, and setting up and taking down the stations of games. …show more content…

I learned how to talk to them in a kind voice. I felt that I also got better in willing to help and helping wholeheartedly. I felt that the people I served for where hard working and they knew what they were doing. They put me to work and every time I finished what they were doing they had me do more. And I kept doing more and more. And we had a lot of stuff that we had to get done with only little time. Overall, I felt that I wasn't overworked, but they didn't give me to little work.     Volunteering at a soup kitchen is an eye opening. This was my first time volunteering, I didn't know what to expect. To be honest, I was kind of nervous. Once I got there I immediately started helping prepare food, there were five of us in total but three of them are usual's. They were all very organized and knew what to do in which order to do it. The kitchen was very clean which I didn't expect. After all the food was prepared, people started to come in to eat. They made a line and we started to serve them. They had option on what they wanted to eat, which I found really nice. We had burgers, spaghetti, chicken sandwich, green beans, Mac&cheese, salad, fruit salad, bread, dessert and of course some drinks. About 70 people showed up to eat.
