The Masque of the Red Death was written by a well-known author, Edgar Allan Poe. In this passage he writes about the bubonic plaque; a devastating time period of death. Prince Prospero, on the other hand a very happy man secludes himself from the world of disease and death by closing his gates and throwing a huge masquerade ball creating a life of party.
