The civil war taking place in Syria has caused over 6.6 million displaced refugees, many of those refugees children. War takes its toll on us all, whether it be internal or civil, and has taken the lives and the hope from many Syrian children. Denial often is the first thing that overcomes the brain of a foreign reader. The thought that something so far away cannot affect them can often replace shock or the motivation to fix the problem. The truth is hope can only flourish when those in denial face reality and pitch in to help those suffering horrific infirmities, in this case the children. This statement can be explained by saying that often false hope, or denial, can be viewed as true and empowering hope. This fallacy can only be cured by accepting the true nature of a situation, and example of this being Jacob accepting that help was not coming, and that they (thrown together war family) would have to save themselves (page 127). Once the true form of hope is reached, it can be a prop in crippling situations. This is seen as Jacob brings Norman and Paul out of despair and almost out of thinking of physical stings through encouragement and hopeful promise( pages 161- 163). Stormy situations, such as the death of thousand of Syrian children or carrying out an escape from the LRA require hope ( page 156- 199), and as action is paired with this belief that all will be well, fear is turned into results. The results may take time, and repercussions may come before peace, but results will come, as shown in both reality and historical-
