Walt Disney As Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” He sure did it alright. Walt Disney inspired millions of people for many generations. He created Disney, the company which is worth over 1 billion dollars today. He deserves to be in the hall of fame because he proves that if you work hard your dreams really can come true, and he has portrayed messages to millions of children all over the world though animation. The outstanding Walt Disney started his life averagely in the small town of Hermosa, Illinois in 1901. His father was Elias Disney, an Irish-Canadian, and his mother, Flora Call Disney, was German-American. Disney was one of five children, his siblings consisted of four boys and a girl. Disney risked everything. He raised funds, borrowed money and used every penny to fund this $1.5 million dollar animated film. Snow white and the seven dwarfs it was the most successful film of its year and it made $8 million at its initial release it also won an academy award, all together he won 22 academy awards. Plus after his big film Snow White he released many more famous films such as, pinocchio, fantasia, dumbo, and bambi while working on mickey mouse donald duck goofy and pluto. He was doing it all. He had a slight bump in the road when In 1939, he opened the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. Two years later, a strike by Disney Animators resulted in heavy losses for the studio as many of the animators resigned from work. That did not stop Disney though because in the 1950s he started working on feature films such as cinderella, alice in wonderland, peter pan, treasure island, lady in the tramp, sleeping beauty and 101 dalmations. He had dominated the screen but he didn’t want to stop there. A visit to Children’s fairyland in Oakland inspired him to think of Disneyland. After five years of hard planning, fund raising, projecting and execution, the grand opening of Disneyland Theme Park took place on July 17, 1955. The park primarily gave children and families to explore the world of fantasy and grew into what has become disneyland and world today. His work and dreams put smiles on kids faces
