In the 1950s, Walt Disney, achieved his lifelong dream of creating the happiest place on earth known as Disneyland. Disney, in some way, is a part of many people’s lives all across the world. . Disney print ads and commercials can be seen worldwide. Without Disney we would not have the animation and fairy tales that many of us enjoy today. . Walt Disney’s dream and genius idea created an inspirational business that is a part of many generations of families around the world. Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Hermosa, Illinois. He grew up most of his life in Marceline, Missouri. There he began drawing, painting, and selling his pictures to neighbors and friends. As a young teen Disney took art and photography classes at McKinley High School and worked for the school paper as a cartoonist. Unfortunately at age sixteen he dropped out of high school to join the army, but was rejected because he didn’t meet the age requirement. .So instead, he joined the Red Cross and became an ambulance driver in France. The team decided to use it as a “pilot” film to sell a series of these “Alice Comedies.” On October 16, 1923, a distributor in New York, M. J. Winker, contacted Walt to distribute the “Alice Comedies.” After that day, the Disney Company became the start of something magical and very successful. Walt Disney was born in 1890 to a woman named Seora Isabelle Zamora. His father, Elias, met Isabelle in California that same year and the two carried on an affair that ended with the birth of Walt. Later, Elias brought the two back to Chicago, Illinois where Isabelle became a housekeeper for the Disney family. Walt was assimilated into the Disney household and treated as the biological son of Elias and Flora Disney. Isabelle was with the family for years, being passed on from the Elias and Flora household to the Walt and Lillian family years later (Eliot 152-157).
