Vanessa Fairweather stared out of the window blankly, not really staring at anything. It had been two week’s since James’s death. Two weeks since the death of a brother she’d been close to in her youth, but had grown distant from in the last few years. Something else to add to the list of regrets. James had grown rather reckless in the last couple of years, so it hadn’t come to a complete shock to anyone when he died in a car accident. When he wasn't out partying the night away, he could be missing for weeks---only to show up on the cover of some trashy tabloid, having spent the past few weeks on a yacht with Victoria's Secret models. The publicity of the event only made things worse, with paparazzi stalking the entire Fairweather family from the announcement of his death to his funeral. She’d never had as much publicity as her brother had, while he’d opted to party himself to death, she’d chosen a more typical lifestyle. She was in college, but she wasn't exactly dancing on top of bar tables. Or dropping fifty thousand dollars on one bet at a casino. It made her far less interesting to write about. In a way, her brother's overly flashy life had protected her from that spotlight. Really, if she’d chosen a different lifestyle, the celebrity world would have been delighted. Standing at 5,5” with golden blonde hair and large blue eyes, she had the face of an all American beauty with the body of a centerfold. Yes, the celebrity world would have been delighted to take such a lovely specimen into their fold.
