Vaginoplasty is plastic surgery for the vagina. More commonly known as vaginal rejuvenation, it is often done to help strengthen vaginal muscles that significantly weaken after childbirth. These procedures often involve removing of vaginal tissue or grafting tissue from other parts of the body.

Vaginoplasty originally started as a means for female with vaginal deformations, injuries or serious stretching due to childbirth to correct those issues. Reconstructive surgery may be performed in order to repair vaginal defects which may have been cause by disease or a trauma. This may involve the removal of tissue from another part of the body to be used to replace the damaged vaginal tissue in the treatment area.
Tightening of the vaginal muscles is another procedure that can be performed. Labiaplasty refers to the plastic surgery procedure that is designed to change the shape, asymmetry and/or size of the labia. The labia are the lips that surround the vagina. There are two sets of lips surrounding the vagina, the labia major, which are the large, outer lips and the labia minor, which are the small inner vaginal lips.
In my opinion this method is only good for men that do not want to be the biological father of any children in the future. Men who are sensative to surgery should think hard before they proceed with this.
A few weeks ago The New York Times published the article Hopeful Start for First Uterus Transplant in the U.S. The article talks about the candidate who will be receiving the first uterus transplant and the expected outcome (Grady). This is exciting news for many women in the United States, but there are a few people that don’t share the excitement. Although there have been uterus transplants performed in other countries before, bioethical issues still arise. There have been some heated debates on this issue in the past, and both the supporting and opposing sides make good points. The truth of the matter is that even though there is risks uterus transplants can benefit women and medicine a great deal.
Freedom of choice is a desire for most, but as we are young we depend on the decision of our parents. With this dependent nature of a child the freedom of choice is limited, for males this can lead to a life long consequence. Male circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin; the skin covering the head of the penis. Circumcision is practiced for religious purposes in Jewish and Muslim communities. Normally, the boy’s age varies from 4 to 11 years old. In the United States, this procedure is also done but without a religious purpose. The boys in this case are commonly newborn. This practice became popular after medical groups claimed that there were many health benefits that came with circumcision. Though it has been proven otherwise, it is still a common practice in the U.S. fueled by ignorance. Circumcision is an unnecessary surgery that leads to psychological problems, issues with sexual activities and lasting physical damage.

Hysterectomy is a common surgical procedure in the United States, with approximately 600,000 hysterectomies performed each year (Whiteman et al., 2008). There are a lot of women suffering from different types of prolapses with uterine being one of the most common and they do not seek medical attention due to being embarrassed or just scared. It is somewhat considered taboo and isn’t spoken of as often as say, having a hysterectomy or other female conditions. Most women are unaware of the symptoms and therefore don’t seek medical attention before it becomes a more serious issue that will most likely require surgery to fix.
Endometriosis is a very painful disorder that effects the tissues that lines the inside of the uterus. Endometriosis causes the tissue to grow outside your uterus.
