INTRODUCTION

A network is a set of communication devices that connected by wired or wireless to others

device media link. The common network types are Personal Area Network (PAN), Local Area

Network (LAN), Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN). Instead LAN, PAN also can be built using either wired or wireless technology. In this assignment, i will focus on Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) which is implemented IEEE 802.15 standard based on the smart home environment that would enable an elderly to stay in their home, instead of a health care center so that they can live independently. Therefore, this is the opportunity for us to explore, design and layout network infrastructure by using our background knowledge in data communication and computer networks.

What Is Smart Home

A smart home or smart house, is a home that incorporates advanced automation systems to provide human especially for the elderly monitoring and control over their home's functions. And nowaday smart home become intelligent because its computer systems can monitor so many aspects of daily living. For example a they may control lighting, temperature, multi-media, security, window and door operations, as well as many other functions. The smart home systems also might even take care of cleaning and healthing or security. Coded signals are sent to switches and outlets that are programmed to operate appliances and electronic devices in every part of the house. Home automation can be especially useful for elderly and disabled persons who wish to live independently. So, here we need to use our knowledge in data communication and computer network to explore and design a suitable network layout for smart home environment that would enab...

In smart home also provide a remote interface to home appliances or the automation system with wireless transmission to internet, to provide control and monitoring all devices via touchpad, keypad or keyfob (from outside). Hence, the security for the inhabitants is more guaranteed with the system and technology.

When all the devices connected to network it will work normally and make elderly people can live inpendently instead health care centre. A variety of smart-home technologies are available that are readily accepted by elderly. The feasibility of smart technologies can be improved by addressing issues related to safety and privacy. While the outcomes and cost effectiveness of these forms of technology remains to be assessed, it appear to show some potential for helping the elderly to live longer, safely and independently in their own homes.
