Earlier this year I had to go to the doctor and I found out that this area of Texas has very few ultrasound technicians and that they even had to call someone from Arizona to come help. In an area like this where sports is a major part of the culture. Choosing a career like this, in the medical field is a sound decision. The best job for me would have to be an ultrasound technician because the dress code is casual, it requires action, and the pay is good. Scrubs come in a variety of fun patterns and colors, a cool way of expressing interests and having fun with a small wardrobe. Supporting detail: I like to express myself in my clothes, which is important to me. Having fun with a wardrobe like scrubs would be something I could do easily. There are plenty of colors and styles to choose from. Having a suit or something like that to work is not something I could do. I’m not comfortable in stuffy or dress clothes. They make me feel claustrophobic and part of just a boring machine. Comfort is another huge thing with this. If I’m comfortable I can concentrate on the tasks ahead of me. Supporting detail: Sitting at a desk to work is not appealing. I’m an anxious person and I need to move, more often than not, to keep myself calm. Supporting detail: The job requires a lot of time walking, which means a lot of time on your feet. I could be needed across the hospital or I could stay in the area where patients have ultrasounds done. Stamina will be needed. Supporting detail: Other than walking and building up the stamina for walking so much during a day, being an ultrasound tech also requires upper body strength for helping patients reposition or transferring patients from bed or from a wheelchair (Burton).
