There are several different ways to obtain the training and education required to be a Radiologic Technologists. One way is to peruse an associate’s degree in radiologic technology. Education typically include classroom study and clinical work. Coursework includes anatomy & physiology, pathology, patient care, radiation physics, and protection, and image evaluation. It will take a person approximately two years to finish the program at which time students must be licensed to work in a doctor’s office setting. To work in a hospital setting you need to certified through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2016-17).
Per the Bureau of Labor Statistics, to be a radiologic technologist, the skills needed to make you a better radiographer ranges from being detailed oriented, good interpersonal skills, math skills, physical stamina, and technical skills. High school students who is interested in
One example is dealing with patients who have contagious diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B, and Tuberculosis. Another safety issue is the radiation itself, which if you’re not careful can lead to radiation sickness. A good way to avoid these safety factors is to eat well, get plenty of rest, wash your hands regularly, and most importantly never expose yourself to radiation while you’re testing a patient.
Radiographic Technologists is a growing field to get into. The reason for this is as the population grows older, the increase in medical conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Radiologic and MRI technicians will need to take the images as for this disease is the best way for giving a diagnosis. Another reason per the Bureau of Labor Statistics is because as the number of individuals who have access to health insurance is expected to continue to increase because of federal health insurance reform.
