1) Norton, A. T., & Herek, G. M. (2012). Heterosexuals’ Attitudes Toward Transgender People: Findings from a National Probability Sample of U.S. Adults. Sex Roles, 68(11-12), 738- 753. doi:10.1007/s11199-011-0110-6 The authors utilized the data from a national probability sample of heterosexuals in U.S adults. The study conveys the combination of adult male and females attitudes towards transgender people. The author’s findings showed that transgender people were associated with attitudes correlated with gay men lesbians and bisexual which were all less favorable. From a speeding ticket to murder, all sexuality are involved. Therefore transgender people may have to stand trail and it’s their right to a fair and speedy trial. Unfortunately with the bias against transgender it may be hard to actually give them that people on the jury stand will probably be heterosexual. Therefore there thoughts about transgender people will heavily impact the transgender person on trial future. Since it was found that heterosexual males attitudes towards transgender people were significantly more negative than women. This article is a written example about the violence against the transgender people. The article talks about the relationship between the police and the transgender community. The transgender community doesn’t feel as though the police are taking them seriously. They feel as that the police under report their issues, has low detection rates and the lack of recognition. The lack of police involvement in the cases only empowers the violence towards the transgender population. This article relates to the violence against transgender because it shows police involvement in reported cases of violence and discrimination against the transgender people. There are several statements and a survey data that show that police does not take transgender people seriously when they do report the violence. This is a serious issue because the lack of police involvement only encourages criminal to target transgender people. Police are heavily relied upon by people.
