The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin For mystery novels in particular, the settings are often very important in creating the mood of the story. Describe the setting of this book in detail: paint a picture with words. How did the setting contribute to the mysterious atmosphere of the book? Sunset Towers is an apartment building in which particular people were chosen to live in…even before they decided to buy it. Sunset Towers’s apartments seem to be affordable and made just for the buyer. Although the name “Sunset Towers” suggests that the building should face towards the west, where the sun sets, it faces to the east. The Westing Mansion is located on a cliff near Sunset Tower. All people talk to her about is how pretty she is and about her fiancé, Denton Deere. She was unwillingly engaged to intern Denton Deere and she sets off 3 bombs to show how she feels. These bombs weren’t meant to hurt anybody, just to express her emotions, but she puts her partner, Sydelle Pulaski, and herself in the hospital. She also damaged Sunset Tower’s coffee shop as well as the restaurant. Angela also reminds Flora Baumbach of Violet Westing, daughter of Sam Westing. There was a game. The Westing Game. To find an heir. To win it all. Sixteen players. Eight teams. One winner. Who became the heir of Sam Westing. Sam Westing died, or supposedly did, and his sixteen heirs were trying to figure out who killed him, or if he was killed at all, which we found out, later in the novel was true. All of the teams had different clues, and they tried to figure out what those clues meant. In the mystery novel, The Westing Game, written by Ellen Raskin, the elements that were mysterious were: the main conflict, setting, characterization, and the technique the author gave clues to the reader.
The description of the setting is crucial to the mood the author intends to achieve. James L. Swanson, the author of Chasing Lincoln’s Killer, describes the setting is a way that creates a foreboding mood by foreshadowing and decreases the tension of the mood by using descriptive sensory details.
One of the settings most important factor is location. Location is the basic aspect of the story such as conflict, reaction, character and plot. Sinclair Ross used the aspect of the location very we...
In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game”, there are two main characters, Sanger Rainsford and General Zaroff. The story starts off with Rainsford and Rainsford’s hunting partner, Whitney, on a yacht heading to Rio de Janiero to hunt big game animals. Rainsford ends up becoming trapped on Ship-Trap Island, and that is where he and the reader are introduced to General Zaroff. Unfortunately for Rainsford, General Zaroff is not your normal General. General Zaroff and Rainsford are similar and different in many ways, and even though Rainsford believes that Zaroff is a sick individual, at the end of the story he becomes more like Zaroff than he realizes.
The term change means to become different. People change throughout their life based on their personal actions, decisions, and experiences. This applies to characters in books as well. In the novel The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, Angela Wexler, Grace Wexler, and Sydelle Pulaski are shown to have changed greatly.
Being able to overcome anything in life is a great feeling. There is a special feeling in the body and the mind when the body achieves a goal, and the mind gets a feeling of satisfaction. Since, the mind chooses to go against the body's will to quit, you have to be mentally strong. In Richard Connell's short story “The Most Dangerous Game,” large game hunter Sanger Rainsford is tested in the following ways: strong versus the weak, the value of life, and becoming what he fears. To begin with, Rainsford has to pose as the weak against the strong, General Zaroff.

I have recently finished the book and movie The Westing Game. The book had more detail than the movie Get a Clue. They changed some of the characters and removed some of the character in the movie. I will talk about the characters and the movie. The Westing Game was a great book.
The setting is an important part of any story, whether it be a poem or a novel. The setting consists of all the places and/or things surrounding the character at any moment through any literary or visual media. A literary setting is often full of details and vivid imagery due to the lack of visual aids that are present in videos and movies. These details often take paragraphs to describe single settings to give the reader an imaginary vision of what the area would look like. Edgar Allan Poe is no exception to these rules and he clearly writes out the setting for his short stories and poems. Poe does an excellent job of using details to describe the setting of his stories and shows great care in choosing the wording of each description he makes to display his exact intentions for each descriptive setting. In the short story, “The Cask of Amontillado,” by Poe, the setting has a direct correlation with the mood in the story. The further into the story you read, the deeper and darker the surroundings of the two main characters get, just like the main plot of the story.
In The Westing Game Novel Sam Westing was supposedly murdered and the 16 heirs in The Sunset Towers are trying to find who the murderer is. The heirs who finds the murderer gets his 200 million dollars but, I think that he isn’t dead and that he is Sandy McSouthers and he’s trying to get back at Mrs. Westing for Violet's death.

The setting or settings in a novel are often an important element in the work. Many novels use contrasting places such as cities or towns, to represent opposing forces or ideas that are central to the meaning of the work. In Thomas Hardy's novel, Tess of the d'Urbervilles, the contrasting settings of Talbothays Dairy and Flintcomb-Ash represent the opposing forces of good and evil in Tess' life.
