Socialization is an active process that occurs through interactions with others, which helps us learn, develop socially and become part of the world we live in. Social interactions are part of a daily life from infancy. Socialization is a way of connecting with others, where people make decisions that influence their lives based on other people’s actions. Additionally, as we continue to go ahead in life, the social media interactions are increasing, which also plays a big role in social learning and influencing one’s own and others’ lives. Sport and socialization are related in a way that people are not afraid of socializing through sport. However, socialization plays a big role in an athlete’s life as social interactions in sport industry can determine athlete’s participation as well as acceptance as an athlete in its sport field. Sports are also divided into many different sport types. Two of the most important sport types that we see in our everyday lives are power and performance sport and pleasure and participation sport. Out of the many studies, I chose to read the study that describes the three factors that are related to sport participation. The first factor is a person’s ability, characteristic and resources that a person acquires. The second factor is the influence of other people, such as parents, siblings, friends, significant other, teachers and role models. The last factor is related to the availability of opportunities a person has to play sports in a way that can be personally satisfying.
