The musical world consists of many people. Their jobs require melding together to make sure the melodious noises reach the ears of the consumers. The jobs in the music industry are like the functioning of a human body. All the parts must work together to survive. If one were to fail it could be detrimental to the entire structure. The jobs in the music industry, although not all are recognized as important, make sure that everyone has music to fill their ears within their reach. Songwriters are a very free flowing part of the music industry. They are the creativity of the industry and try to write to the consumers’ interests. A word about music publishing companies and the ownership of songs - The songwriter is the owner of the song. But most songwriters do not look after the rights to their songs. Issuing licenses for the use of a song, collecting the royalties, accounting, etc. is a lot of work. This kind of work is called administration. In most cases, songwriters have music publishing companies do this administration for them. But in many cases, the songwriter sells the song to the music publisher. In this case, of course, the music publisher is the owner of the song and the rights that go with it. But whether the music publishing company owns the song or administers the rights to the song on behalf of the songwriter, the music publishing company will issue the mechanical license ("Music Industry Survival Guide." …show more content…

He’s very instrumental to the process. The music producer is in charge of either writing the material or if he didn’t write it, he’s in charge of organizing it and making it sound like a cohesive song. He calls all the shots on what’s played, and when it’s played, and how it’s played, and the sounds that are used, or the vocals that are recorded if they’re correct or not. The producer is in charge of everything ("What Does a Music Producer Do?" 1).” Of all of these careers, the one I would be most likely to pursue would be the songwriter. They are the most free spirited and the others seem more “all business.” I tend to think of myself as a very free spirited person letting my heart guide me where it feels I should be. In college, the career I’ll be studying to pursue is animation. This meaning my creativity already flows freely and could as easily be put into words as it will be put into my art and animations. I can relate more to the songwriter than I could the other careers in the music
