What is an environment? The environment is all external conditions, factors, matter, energy along with living and non-living that affect a living organism or another specified system. There are definitely a lot of problems going on within our environment due to the abuse by humans. Many of the problems associated by the abuse of humans within the environment are serious issues that need to be taken care of right away. Some of these issues can range from just throwing a used can of soda on the ground to the giant oil spills in our oceans. Plus, these issues cost our local governments over $1 billion dollars per year. Instead, the money spent can be used to make our environment healthier and cleaner for everyone. Recycling is the processing of used waste materials into brand new, useful products. Not only does recycling provide various health benefits for humans, it also benefits for the environment. The EPA says the rates for recovering solid municipal waste increased from 1960 of around 5.6 percent to almost 25 percent more with an addition 8.5 percent in 2007 from composting. This percentage change has led to a decrease in content found in our landfills which benefits animals, humans, and even the environment as a whole. If people do not keep on recycling, our natural resources will keep on diminishing which we do not want to happen. If more people do not recycle, climate change will keep going up which leads to changes in our water temperature as well. Higher water temperature changes lead to less amounts of dissolved oxygen in ponds, lakes, oceans, and streams which will lead to aquatic wildlife to perish.
