This quote grabs my attention because it associates with electronic cigarettes that are targeting teenagers as a consumer to get big profits for their company to keep going on business. Some teens nowadays are using e-cigarettes as a daily routine in their life. Teenagers are easily drawn to a material or movement that is trending worldwide. In the article “E-cigarette: Teens who vape are more likely to smoke later, study says” by Amina Khan published in Los Angeles Times talks about teenagers who start vaping on e-cigarette is expected to transfer to regular cigarette
“These result raise concern that many adolescent and young adults who initiate nicotine use through e-cigarette are at substantially increased risk for later use of cigarettes, even if they do not intend to smoke cigarettes in the future,” the study authors wrote. “Thus, while e-cigarettes may potentially represent a product that can reduce harm for established cigarette smokers, they may simultaneously contribute to the development of a new population of cigarette smokers” (Khan).
This quote provides support because teenagers who start using e-cigarettes are putting in risk their future because they are expected to smoke regular cigarettes in the future. Teenagers should not start using e-cigarettes because it leaves them to nicotine addiction if they do not use other flavors in their cartridge. This show that e-cigarettes are dangerous to teenagers because once e-cigarette is in their hand they become addicted to it and change from e-cigarettes to tobacco cigarettes. This will create a new generation of addicted smokers and will put in risk their health. E-cigarette must be put in regulation because teenagers are the future of the world and we would want them to be healthy to work in their professional
