Smoking is addictive, but for the people wanting to stop smoking or even looking for alternatives there is Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) . ENDS aren’t cigarettes, but small easy to use devices that blow out water vapor and nicotine to create huge clouds of smoke. Due to the water vapor coming out of these ENDS consumers don't understand the real effects it still may have on your body. Foulds 2011).Most studies are proving that e-cigs can be a better alternative to smoking or even quitting altogether .The study verifies that it helped with the nicotine addiction ,but it showed other chemicals that may affect body such as carcinogens . Some of the chemicals released by the e-cigarettes are the same chemicals that are found in cigarette smoke. The Center for Disease Control and Prevent (CDC) proved the chemical isoprene found in cigarettes and ENDS devices are carcinogenic (2015). The Department Material Analysis and Indoor Chemistry, Fraunhofer Wilhelm-Klauditz-Institut (WKI) of Braunschweig, Germany concluded from the research study that the concentrations of the ENDS chemicals aren’t nearly as harmful as cigarette smoke. The average concentration of isoprene during the study in the e-cig vapor was approximately 8μg/m³, while the cigarette smoke produced 135μg/m³ (Schripp 2012). The evidence is good news and bad news for the daily e-cig user because although vaping can be less harmful it can still affect the body the way cigarettes do especially when vapers tend to puff more vapor in their lungs than the traditional cigarette user …show more content…

Lung damage when using the ENDS devices is a concern because when inhaled the vapor reaches the lungs which are now exposed to the harsh chemicals. In a health and body article from Science News for Students claims the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill exposed human lung cells to e-cigarette flavorings. The exposure to the lungs led to the evidence of five of the thirteen e-juice flavors affected lung cell. The article explained the lung cells can’t reproduce themselves when exposed to the “e-juice”, and even at high doses lung cells were killed completely (Raloff, Mole 2015).ENDS are so easy to use at the press of button many users have constant exposure to the lungs because they’re consistently vaping throughout the day. Lung damage is crucial because the e -cigs and vapes are targeting young adults and teens especially when they are supposed to have their whole life ahead of them. ENDS are basically just the new trendy way of smoking which is appealing to the young adults A research study of 15000 students in the US said they smoke the e-cigarettes because of the flavor not cause of the nicotine (Krisberg 2016). Unfortunately the juice that has the flavors contains nicotine and other harsh chemicals so it’s basically as if they were smoking cigarettes anyways
