With an impressive repertoire of movies, books, TV shows, comics, and exclusive memorabilia; the Batman has gained world recognized fame and has played an iconic role for the DC universe. Unlike his other crime fighting colleagues such as Superman or the Flash, Batman the alter ego of billionaire Bruce Wayne does not possess any superhuman powers but instead relies on what DC refers to as his “physical prowess” and “technical ingenuity” (Origins). Perhaps one can consider the vast wealth of Mr. Wayne his true power but in a conjured world packed with villains and other heroes Batman relies perhaps the most important tool a hero can have, his mind. Like most heroes, Bruce’s thirst for justice was brought upon by a horrible act that that quickly brought upon his coming of age. Following a theatre performance with his parents Bruce, Thomas and his mother Martha found themselves walking down ‘Crime Alley’. There they were approached and mugged; in a valiant attempt to subdue their assailant Bruce witnessed both of his parents be brutally murdered at this hands of crime. As seen in some of the original comics it was at this time “Bruce Wayne learned the power of fear…” (Origins), this realization plays a vital role in the development of his alter ego Batman. This was indeed what Batman wanted, by establishing himself in the minds of every would be and active criminal the Batman has created a psychological fear that reaches far beyond the extent of any superpower. Through Batman’s actions the emergence of other heroes began to show as many saw hope in the justice that was being brought to Gotham. These heroes help justice prevail despite the always constant evil that resides in the city; weather police commissioner Gordon or political activist Harvey Dent it’s safe to assume that Batman resonates with the everyday person and relies on the justice they pursue to feed his own
